Our Journey to Go Solar

Our Unique Journey

Our journey to solar energy began with a conversation about renewable energy and what it means to our future and our kids future. We didn’t know much but we knew we wanted to reduce our own footprint. Then began months-long research about different types of solar arrays and meeting and talking with many different solar installation companies. Being in the roofing industry for 35 years, we had first-hand knowledge of roofing and thereby ideas about not only the placement of panels on our roof but also ensuring the integrity of our roof. This led Kevin to sign up for a class on solar energy planning and installation to best understand how it works. During this time he came to realize that he enjoyed being part of the “powered by the sun” movement and decided to manage the start-to-finish process of designing, approving, and installing our solar panel system. Thus a seed was planted for Sugarsbridge Solar. It wasn’t a smooth journey for sure, bumps along the way, but valuable lessons that can parlay into smoother processes for our customers. You can read below about some of our challenges and of course, Kevin would be happy to tell you first hand! We are fully enjoying our ground mount solar system and, not kidding, there’s an app that sends the kilowatt hours to our smart phones! Hello, Sunshine!
